Stefanie Gannon- Artist- Studio 206

My artistic career began when an Architecture professor commented that my design was “…beautiful, but not structurally sound…”  Two dimensions are less susceptible to gravity and allow more freedom of expression.

I work in a variety of media, but prefer abstracts created with watercolor inks and various household items. Each item is chosen for its texture and/or the effect it creates on the paper.  These are often layered for a juxtaposition of structure and fluidity.

I enjoy the element of surprise inherent in each of my pieces; pulling back the cheesecloth, bubble wrap, even stretch wrap or burlap, to see what has been left behind. It’s a happy surprise; one which I hope is conveyed in the finished work.
